Introduction
In this piece of coursework I am going to investigate rate of reaction. The rate of reaction is the time in which a reaction takes place. In order to carry out this investigation, I will need to do an experiment; I will also submit some theories and other issues to support this investigation.
Chapter.1. Speed, Velocity, and Acceleration
Kinematics -
Kinematics is a branch of science that deals with the description of motion of objects without the reference to the force or agents causing motion.
Rest and Motion -
If a body A is not changing its position with respect with a body B then it is said that A is at rest. If a body C is changing its position relative to a body D then it is considered as in motion. For instance, a cyclist detects its movement by looking at other things moving away.
Displacement -
A straight line between two points is called displacement.
(OR)
The shortest distance between two points is called displacement.
It is a scalar quantity because it does not include a particular direction.
Types of Motion -
1) Translatory Motion -
A motion of body in a straight line and in which every particle of the body is being displaced by the same amount is called translational motion.
) Rotational Motion -
When an object spins or rotates about a fixed point or axis, its motion is called rotational motion.
) Oscillatory (Vibratory) Motion -
If a mean position executed at the same intervals of time is called vibratory motion.
Speed -
Speed is distance covered per unit of time.
(OR)
The rate of change of distance moved with time.
(OR)
Speed of an object is a measure of how fast it is moving.
This is a scalar quantity.
Speed is usually measured in units of meter per second (m/s) or kilometer per hour (km/h).
We can work out speed if we know the following
1) Distance (distance traveled)
) Time (the time in which the distance is covered)
Speed (v) = distance (d) / time (t)
v = d/t
The unit for speed in SI units is meter per second or kilometer per hour (km/h).
Velocity -
The rate of change in distance moved with time in a specified direction is called velocity.
(OR)
The rate of change of displacement is called velocity.
It is a vector quantity as direction is included.
We can work it out if we know the following
1) Distance (The distance that is traveled)
) Time (The time in which the distance is covered)
v = d/t
The unit for velocity in SI units is meter per second (m/s) or kilometer per hour (km/h).
Uniform Velocity -
A body is said to move with uniform velocity if the rate of change of distance moved with time in a specified direction is constant.
Average Velocity -
Average velocity is sum of initial velocity and final velocity divided by two.
